Change Your Body Language
Do you know that action speaks louder than words? Whether we are aware of it or not, our body language communicates who we are without using words. Articles have been written on the importance of body language of preachers as they deliver the message. “Is Your Body Language Hurting Your Preaching?” The same message applies to us because body language expresses how we communicate to others and project how others see us.
Amy Cuddy, a social psychologist and Harvard professor wrote in her book of “Presence: Bringing Your Boldest Self To Your Biggest Challenges” that body language can change other people’s perception of us and how we see ourselves by changing our body positions. Based on her numerous researches, she is convinced that “power posing” – standing in a posture of confidence can boost our feeling of confidence and how we feel about ourselves.
“Presence” has been named New York Times bestseller, Wall Street Journal bestseller, USA Today bestseller, Publishers Weekly bestseller, Forbes “15 Best Business Books of the Year”, People “Book of the Week” and AARP Editor’s Pick.
Amy’s TED talk recorded by TEDGlobal on June 2012 is provided below:
As Christians, our strength comes from from God and our faith gives us strength and confidence. We can tweak and project our body language to portray our confidence in God. Let us not say something about ourselves and project a different body language a complete opposite message.
