A Life Of Integrity
Integrity is keeping a commitment after circumstances have changed since the commitment was made. Our God is a God of integrity. Our word is our bond and therefore we need to take care in the choice of our words. Integrity is moral uprightness, state of being whole and uncorrupted.
1. Rock of Integrity
The rock of integrity is faithfulness. This is a key character of God. God is always faithful. “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Deuteronomy 32:4.
2. Record of Integrity
Integrity is not your reputation, not success, but is the some total of our being and action. It is what we do and what we say. How we treat others and willingness to admit when we are wrong.
3. Road to Integrity
-
Be honest with yourself
-
Tell the truth
- “Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people.” Proverbs 11:3. We reflect the character of God when we speak the truth.
-
Keep your word
- “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:9. Keep your commitment even when circumstances have changed.
-
Be who you are
- Be who you are and not what you aren’t.
-
Shun bad company
- “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’ ” 1 Corinthians 15:33. Others pay attention to your actions and the type of friends you associate with.
-
Be faithful
- “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2. Do we stay on track even when nobody is watching us?
-
Be strong under fire
- “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.” Daniel 3:17. Integrity more important than their lives. You are going to be criticized but you have to keep on shining.
