In 1793, William Carey sailed to India with a reluctant, pregnant wife and 2 children to bring the message of Jesus. It was 6 years later that he had his first person saved and baptized. He and his family endured hardships and deaths in the family. But he continued with his conviction that the people in India needed to be saved from the practice of sati (widow burning), and superstitious beliefs.
